Delayed by courtroom outburst, Troy man sentenced in fatal drive-by shooting

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced the sentencing of 25-year-old Daquan Arrington to 25 years in state prison for his involvement in a drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of Javon Ward and injured two others, including a minor.

Arrington received the sentence from Judge Thomas Marcelle on Wednesday after pleading guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree. The sentence includes five years of post-release supervision.

The incident occurred on June 5, 2024, when Arrington and co-defendant Paul Smith, 22, drove from Troy to Albany and fired 19 shots from inside a car at a group of people near Second and Quail streets.
