AMSTERDAM — A local man who was dog-sitting for an acquaintance is accused of shooting and killing the dog and then burying its body in a neighboring town.
Harold A. Lampkin Sr. was arrested last week and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, Montgomery County Sheriff Jeffery Smith announced Monday in a statement. The 66-year-old was also charged with violating the terms of a previous conviction that barred him from having a gun.
