Albany’s Lincoln Park Pool set to open July 5

ALBANY — A brand-new Lincoln Park Pool will open July 5 after undergoing almost two years of demolition and construction after water leakage issues with the old, but iconic, pool.

City officials were initially aiming for a Fourth of July opening date, but Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced the new date on Wednesday afternoon in a news release. The pool, which will be available for use to Albany residents-only from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., has a capacity of 500 people.

The old infrastructure for the pool leaked as much as 500,000 gallons of water per day. After city officials decided it could no longer be repaired, they tore out the pool in December 2023 and undertook a massive construction plan to build a new one. One part of that project was a $45 million underground sewage treatment operation built to reduce the amount of raw waste that enters the Hudson River during heavy rain from across the city…
