DUANESBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A swimming pool contractor company in Duanesburg had an unexpected visitor to one of their pools. A small bear jumped into one of the pools at Cuomo Country Pools after being spotted by some people who lived nearby.
No one was hurt in the encounter, and the bear soon retreated back into the woods behind their building.

“We were all getting ready to go to work. And we heard these guys down here shout, ‘Bear! Bear!’” owner Gary Cuomo said. “So, we’re looking around for the bear, and next thing you know, we heard him running, and he climbed the wall of our yard. Dove in the pool, went swimming for a little bit.”
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, it’s best to avoid any conflicts with bears, never feed or approach them, secure food, pet food, garbage and recycling. You should also remove bird feeders where birds are active, clean and store grills and smokers, and alert neighbors to bear activity…
