ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany fabric and yarn reuse store will celebrate its grand reopening on Saturday. Up-Stitch will now be located at 28 Essex Street.

The nonprofit organization, previously housed at 350 New Scotland Avenue, gathers donations of fabric, yarn, craft supplies and other crafting tools to sell at discounted prices. Up-Stitch also distributes the materials to local schools, food pantries and other community groups.
The organization’s main goal is to keep crafting supplies out of landfills. Since opening in 2017, the store has reportedly reused at least 18,000 pounds of sewing and crafting materials.
