10 injured in multiple shootings Fourth of July evening in Albany, officials say

Ten people were injured across multiple shooting incidents Fourth of July evening and early Saturday morning in Albany, according to police.

Authorities said four people were shot during an incident in the Madison Avenue area just before 10 p.m. as Fourth of July fireworks were ending at Empire State Plaza.

According to Police Chief Brendan Cox, an altercation occurred between a group of juveniles resulting in one juvenile firing a flare gun and a second juvenile firing a handgun. Officials say the flare gun struck a residence at 333 Madison Ave., causing a structure fire. However, no one inside the home was hurt.
