Authorities urge action as Albany faces rise in violence

ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB)— A series of violent incidents over the weekend has left the Albany community on edge. The turmoil began Friday night, resulting in 10 people injured and several displaced due to a fire.

Around 5:30 p.m., before the Empire State Plaza fireworks show, a 15-year-old male was shot in the foot and rushed to the hospital. This incident remains under investigation.

Later that night, a fight among teenagers escalated when one fired a flare gun and another discharged a handgun. The flare gun struck a home on Madison Avenue, while four people were injured by the handgun…
