NORTH GREENBUSH — A woman faces harassment charges for allegedly yelling at Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin — and then embracing him without his consent — during a tense encounter outside a Wynantskill restaurant last month.
The 66-year-old woman spotted the Republican at Paolo Lombardi’s Ristorante on June 21, shouted at him concerning political matters, followed him out to the parking lot, banged on her own car and then hugged him, according to North Greenbush Police Chief David M. Keevern.
“This circumstance — the totality of it all — it’s a concerning one and I think the point needs to be set: you don’t get to touch people who don’t want to be touched, right?” Keevern said. “Public figure or otherwise, you just can’t touch people.”…
