‘We’re optimistic about the situation’: Family of Albany post-fireworks shooting victim speaks out

The family of a 17-year-old boy who was shot in the head this past weekend in Albany is speaking out.

Vance Mims III had gone to the fireworks to enjoy the night with family and friends when he was caught in the gunfire. Police say he was an innocent bystander that night and not the intended target. In all, 10 people were shot in the city Fourth of July Friday evening and early Saturday morning.

His family says Mims is a normal teenage kid, working hard this summer to make money at Little Caesars…
