Passenger dies on Albany flight to Florida

A passenger on an Allegiant jet died late Sunday night on a flight from Albany International Airport to the Punta Gorda Airport in Florida, officials said.

Another passenger alerted the crew when the man could not be woken up, Chris Hall, Charlotte County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office spokesperson confirmed to the Times Union Tuesday. Gulf Coast News, an ABC affiliate, said passengers told the station the man appeared to be sleeping on the flight. The flight landed at the Florida airport at about 11:56 p.m.

Hall said the sheriff’s office is investigating but said there is no sign of suspicious activity and the man appeared to have died of natural causes. He declined to comment on the man’s age or where he was from…
