MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police arrested an Amsterdam man during a traffic stop in Moreau who allegedly had an illegal handgun in his vehicle. Troopers said Darrius D. Burnette, 29, is facing several charges.

Troopers stopped a car on the northway in Moreau for vehicle and traffic violations, identifying Burnette as the driver. According to law enforcement, Burnette had another adult and two children under the age of 16 in the car.
Troopers said Burnette didn’t have a valid driver’s license. With help from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, the loaded handgun was recovered from the passenger seat area where one of the kids was sitting.
Burnette was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and first-degree aggravated. He remains in Saratoga County Court with bail set at $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond, or a $200,000 partially secured bond…
