Schenectady man gets 8 years in prison for drug trafficking

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT) — A man from Schenectady was sentenced on Wednesday to eight years in prison for shipping drugs from California into the Capital Region.

Terence Butler, 36, had previously admitted to directing multiple people to meet with a drug distributor in Beverly Hills, California to obtain drugs to ship back to various Schenectady addresses, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Investigators seized a package on Jan. 4, 2023 that had 1.65 kilograms of cocaine, which Butler had shipped from California to Schenectady. On Aug. 2023, investigators seized another Schenectady-bound package containing about 10,000 fentanyl pills and 5,000 methamphetamine pills, according to prosecutors…
