ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly having a loaded handgun. Ambishas Cowan, 18, was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Albany Police Officers said they responded to the backyard of a home on Thornton Avenue near Livingston Avenue for reports of a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, police said two people fled the scene which resulted in a foot pursuit.
Cowan is accused of having a loaded handgun modified with a switch when he was taken into custody on Wilkins Avenue. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and placed in the Albany County Jail.
