Queensbury developer arrested after Saratoga Springs fight

SARATOGA SPRINGS — A prominent Queensbury real estate developer was arrested Sunday night for his alleged role in a brawl at the restaurant Salt & Char.Court records show that Richard P. Schermerhorn, 59, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a misdemeanor, in a fight that broke out at about 10:35 p.m. in the eatery at the luxurious Adelphi Hotel.Another man, Thomas W. Post, of Massena — who public records indicate owns a Saratoga Springs home — was also arrested in what one witness said was a melee that involved several people. Post, 51, was charged with third-degree assault, also a misdemeanor.

Schermerhorn, of Schermerhorn Real Estate Holdings, which builds and manages hundreds of apartments and townhouses throughout Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties, did not immediately respond to calls and an email seeking comment.

Matthew Chauvin, an attorney who said he is representing Schermerhorn and Post in the matter, said both men deny “any and all wrongdoing.”…
