Lavender the dog makes ‘tremendous transformation’

MENANDS — Lavender the dog, a female pit bull mix who was found abandoned with severe injuries in the city of Schenectady back in March, has several more medical check-ups before she can be cleared for adoption.

A police animal control officer responded to the area of Eastern Parkway and McClellan Street on March 30 after residents spotted and reported the dog. It was there they found an underweight Lavender with fractured teeth, a missing ear that appeared to have been intentionally cut off and patches of fur gone. The dog was then brought to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society for care.

Since then, Lavender has been receiving medical treatment and is “learning how to be a dog,” said Mohawk Hudson Humane Society President and CEO Ashley Jeffrey Bouck. She said the dog had been staying with the organization before she was moved to a foster home in late April…
