Albany County honors long-time employee retiring after 40 years of service

Albany, NY (WRGB) — After four decades of public service, Albany County Comptroller Susan Rizzo has announced the retirement of Joseph Lydon, a dedicated staff member in the Comptroller’s Office.

Lydon was recognized with a proclamation from County Executive Daniel P. McCoy during a reception at the Albany County Office Building on July 28, 2025.

In addition to his career with the county, Lydon served more than 20 years in the Army National Guard. Remarkably, he returned to active duty at age 52 to complete an additional tour in Iraq…
