Albany, NY (WRGB) — A 20-year-old David Koneh from Springfield, Massachusetts, was arrested following a high-speed chase that began in Bethlehem and ended in Albany on Monday afternoon. Koneh was taken into custody after fleeing from police and crashing his vehicle into a wooded area near the Albany County Rail Trail.
According to the Bethlehem police department, the incident began around 2:47 PM when a Bethlehem Police Department officer stopped Koneh’s 2010 BMW on SR 9W for having a suspended registration due to no insurance. As the officer approached, Koneh sped away, leading police on a pursuit through several roads, including Corning Hill Road and River Road (SR 144), before entering the City of Albany on South Pearl Street.
Authorities say, during the chase, Koneh’s vehicle nearly struck a road crew flagger and collided with another vehicle stopped in traffic. Despite the crash, Koneh continued driving until he eventually crashed into a wooded area. He then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by the pursuing officer…
