According to WNYT, a person opened a standpipe on the 20th floor of the apartment complex, causing a massive amount of water to flood the building. Standpipes are typically used by firefighters to access water during emergencies.
The water rushed down hallways, elevator shafts, and walls, leading to extensive damage. Firefighters responded to the scene around 9:16 p.m. and remained on-site for about three hours.
