MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police announced that the victim of a fatal car crash in Middleburgh on July 29 has been identified. The crash took place around 1:30 p.m. on State Route 145.

Investigators determined that on Tuesday afternoon, a car turning left onto Schoharie Hill Road at the intersection with Route 145 was hit by another vehicle heading north. State Police confirmed that 49-year-old Melissa Guest of Jefferson, the front passenger of the turning car, was severely injured in the collision and was ultimately declared dead at the scene.
The drivers of both cars and the four passengers of the second vehicle were all taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The impacted portion of State Route 145 was closed for over four hours while the area was assessed. The investigation remains ongoing.
