ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany County judge sentenced a woman to 10 years in prison for a 2024 slashing on North Pearl Street. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said Ocya Easley, 31, was convicted of first-degree assault after being indicted in February.

Through her guilty plea, Easley admitted that on July 22, she stabbed a woman in the arm and leg, which left deep cuts that required emergency surgery. Easley and the victim lived in the same building and knew each other, having a verbal argument days before the slashing.
Albany Police Department arrested Easley on September 19, and the DA’s office said several bystanders driving and walking by witnessed Easley’s actions. Some witnesses filmed the attack and helped the victim.

Easley was also sentenced to five years of probation. During the sentencing hearing, the victim read an impact statement about how the slashing upended her world. Easley apologised to the victim during her sentencing.
