WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police are currently investigating the reported death of a 9-year-old child in Watervliet on Saturday.

The child was reportedly located by authorities at a home on 2nd Avenue and pronounced dead at Samaritan Hospital. The 9-year-old’s cause of death is pending further investigation, police said.
The investigation was initially led by the Watervliet Police Department but was transferred to New York State Police. Authorities said there is currently no threat to the public.
