CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. (WNYT) – A man from Albany is accused of driving while on drugs and crashing into a tree in Canajoharie.
It happened just after noon on Saturday. A deputy was dispatched to a report of a crash on Route 5S near Cunningham Road. Derek J. Mabey, 40, was driving his pickup truck, when he lost control and went off the road. Mabey damaged a fence that runs along a bike trail and hit a tree head on, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mabey then allegedly ran away from the scene. He was found at a nearby gas station. Investigators said they found a quantity of cocaine…
