CDTA trims bus schedules in response to $2.7M deficit

ALBANY — The Capital District Transportation Authority will be changing the schedules for a number of bus lines later this month as it stares down a multimillion-dollar budget deficit.

The schedule changes, which begin Aug. 24, are designed to right-size an organization that expanded both its coverage area and scope of service over the last several years, said CEO Frank Annicaro.

CDTA has expanded beyond the core of the Capital Region, adding lines in Montgomery County in 2022 and merging with Greater Glens Falls Transit. It also established several bus rapid transit lines, along with an on-demand van service between the Amtrak station in Rensselaer and downtown Albany…
