Canajoharie, NY (WRGB) — A 40-year-old Albany man, Derek Mabey, was arrested following a single-vehicle accident on State Highway 5s near Cunningham Road on August 2, 2025, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jeffery T. Smith reported that at approximately 12:03 PM, a deputy responded to the scene where Mabey’s 2015 Chevrolet Silverado had veered off the highway, damaging a fence along a bicycle trail before crashing into a tree. Authorities say Mabey fled the scene on foot but was later found at a nearby gas station.
