Woman sentenced for smuggling synthetic drugs into correctional facilities

Albany, NY (WRGB) — Maya McIntosh, a 33-year-old resident of Albany, was sentenced to more than eight years in prison on July 31, 2025, for her role in a conspiracy to manufacture and distribute a synthetic cannabinoid, among other charges. McIntosh admitted to manufacturing, distributing, and possessing with intent to distribute MDMB-4en-PINACA, a synthetic cannabinoid, from January 2023 through July 2024.

According to Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III, McIntosh endangered the health and safety of corrections officers and prison staff by smuggling the synthetic drug into correctional facilities via the U.S. Mail. Sarcone said,
