CT executive charged in campground stabbings in front of kids released from jail for evaluation

A Connecticut retail executive accused of stabbing two friends while camping with their children in Massachusetts has been released from jail on bond so he can receive “medical, psychological and psychiatric treatment” in Texas, court documents show.

Jeffrey DeLuca, 47, was arrested July 18 after police said he attacked two friends at a campground in Lanesborough, Mass., an incident the attorney who initially represented him, Alex Schmulsky, attributed to an “acute pyschological reaction” from eating cannabis-infused gummies.

Berkshire County Assistant District Attorney Marianne Shelvey objected to DeLuca’s release from a 120-day hold without bond during a hearing in Berkshire District Court Tuesday, saying he still represents a danger to others, court records show…
