GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Celebration of life services have been scheduled for Montgomery County Legislator Dan Wilson, according to his obituary. The 76-year-old from the town of Florida died in a plane crash in Rhode Island on July 30 after departing from Albany.

Wilson had been elected into Montgomery County office in November 2016, serving District 5. Passionate about aviation, machinery and veterans’ affairs, he was also a longtime board member and later president at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum (ESAM) in Glenville.
“He was instrumental in driving capital improvement projects, securing new equipment and assets, and building deeper community relationship,” his obituary said. “He loved searching the country and using his powers of persistent persuasion in obtaining the next great museum piece.”

A wake and memorial celebration of life will be held at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, located at 250 Rudy Chase Drive, on August 17. Gates will open at 2 p.m., with a service at 4 p.m.
