It also breaks down the most prevalent crimes in each ward, and a specific prevention strategy. The report, which is now being reviewed by the city’s public safety committee, notes while overall crime is down, there are “persistent pockets of violence” in the Capital City.
The report says the Task Force brought together “key stakeholders, including government, community leaders, educators, clergy, community members, violence-prevention organizations and the youth to address the systemic causes and community impacts of violence across Albany. Charged with convening every fall to prepare for anticipated summer upticks in violence, the Task Force has focused on developing actionable recommendations through data analysis, community listening sessions, and multi-agency collaboration. “
