Former contractor who bilked victim out of $84K gets more prison time for skipping sentence

A man former contractor who defrauded a homeowner out of $84,000 and then skipped his sentencing will spend additional time behind bars.

Chad Nichols, 48, originally pleaded guilty in December 2024 to taking money from a Guilderland home owner and not completing work. He did not show up for his sentencing in February and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Investigators finally tracked down Nichols hiding out at a hotel in Saratoga Springs. Nichols also was using various identities to remain undetected and try to extort more victims, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office said…
