Albany man arrested after elderly man dies in hit-and-run

COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A 19-year-old Albany man was arrested on Monday after allegedly hitting a 93-year-old pedestrian with his vehicle and fleeing. Kemaury Everett was charged with second-degree manslaughter and operator leaving the scene of accident with injury resulting in death, per the Cohoes Police Department.

Cohoes Police Officers responded to the area of Newark Street and Congress Street for reports of a car that hit a pedestrian and fled the scene around 9:44 a.m. Police said they found 93-year-old Charles Allendorph visibly injured in the roadway before he was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Law enforcement found the suspect vehicle within an hour and seized it for evidence. Around 4 p.m., Everett was arrested after he tried to report his vehicle stolen in Albany.
