Downtown Albany BID honors Albany Mayor Sheehan and The Hollow for shaping city’s future

ALBANY — The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) celebrated its 2025 Annual Awards by recognizing two forces behind the city’s recent transformation — Mayor Kathy Sheehan and the co-owners of The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Dora and Mike Philip.

The awards were presented Aug. 7 at the BID’s annual meeting at the Country Inn & Suites, where officials, business owners and community leaders gathered to reflect on downtown’s resilience and evolution.

Sheehan received the James M. DiNapoli Award for her leadership, vision and collaborative spirit. Since taking office, she has worked closely with the BID to make the city’s core more connected, accessible and vibrant. Her administration advanced projects such as the Capital Wayfinding Program, which installed nearly 70 pedestrian kiosks and directional signs, and the Albany Skyway, the region’s first elevated park linking downtown to the Hudson River…
