18-year-old charged with possessing modified handgun capable of automatic fire

Albany, NY (WRGB) — An 18-year-old from Albany has been charged with possessing a weapon capable of automatic fire, Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today. Ambishas Cowan was arraigned on a Grand Jury indictment Tuesday before the Honorable Thomas Marcelle. He faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.

The charges stem from an incident on July 24, when Albany Police responded to reports of an armed individual on Wilkins Avenue around 6:40 PM.
