Albany Arterial Highway Repairs Set for September, Sparks Debate over I-787’s future

Albany, NY (WRGB) — A multi-year repair project on the arterial highway connecting the Empire State Plaza to I-787 is set to impact thousands of commuters beginning Sept. 3. Eastbound lanes will be reduced from two lanes to one, state officials said, though access to Routes 9 and 20 will remain open via a temporary roadway.

The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) emphasized that safety and long-term infrastructure upgrades are the primary goals.
