Police investigating two separate stabbings in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany detectives are investigating two separate stabbings that took place on Thursday night. Police stated that an Albany man is custody in connection to one of the incidents.

On August 28 around 6:20 p.m., police responding to a report of an assault near 911 Central Avenue found a 24-year-old man with stab wounds to the forearm and shoulder. The man was tended to at the scene by emergency responders before being taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives learned that the suspect, who fled the area before police arrived, was involved in an argument with the victim prior to the alleged stabbing. Anyone with information regarding the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Albany Police by calling (518)462-8039.

Second arrest made in Hoosick Falls animal cruelty, child endangerment case

Later on Thursday night around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a home on Yates Street near Ontario Street for a call regarding a domestic dispute. Investigators determined that someone had broken into the house, reportedly resulting in a fight involving the suspect, the homeowner, and a third person at the residence. Two young children were at the home at the time of the scuffle, but weren’t injured.

Shortly thereafter, police made their way to Albany Medical Center after staff notified APD that a 27-year-old man had been admitted to the emergency room with stab wounds to the chest. Arriving officers spoke with the man, identified as Calibi McLeod of Albany, and Albany Police confirmed that he was the break-in suspect from the fight on Yates Street, during which he was stabbed.

APD stated that a 27-year-old woman endured a minor stab wound to the leg during the incident. McLeod remains in police custody and is slated to be arraigned once he’s medically cleared by the hospital…
