CBS6 anchor Greg Floyd announces retirement

CBS6’s Greg Floyd has announced his retirement after 45 years in broadcast journalism.

A Capital Region native, Floyd’s connection to local news began in 1979 when he joined CBS6 as an intern. From there, his path in journalism led him to roles at WENT radio in Gloversville, WTEN and FOX23 in Albany; and WRNN in the Hudson Valley, before returning to CBS6, according to their statement.

“The station recently offered me a new contract and I seriously considered staying, because I love this job,” said Floyd when we spoke briefly this evening during a commercial break. “But I’m turning 67 in November, and after a period of reflection, I decided that now is the time to step back.”…
