Amsterdam man charged in domestic dispute with machete

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Amsterdam man is accused of chasing a woman down Glen Avenue with a machete on August 29. The Amsterdam Police Department said Orlando Rodriguez, 37, is facing charges of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree menacing.

Police said they received several calls on August 29 about a man chasing a woman with a machete on Glen Avenue. Once on the scene, police interviewed witnesses and found the uninjured victim.

After being interviewed by law enforcement, the police began searching for Rodriguez and arrested him. Police said Rodriguez knew the victim and the attack wasn’t random.

Rodriguez was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court. He was released to appear in court again at a later date under the New York State bail reform…
