Bronx man sentenced for role in Albany shootout

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Bronx man has been sentenced to state prison in connection to a 2024 shootout in Albany, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Cheick Diarra, 21, pleaded guilty to his role in the incident in May.

At about 4 a.m. on October 19, 2024, Diarra and a stranger reportedly got into a verbal dispute in Madison Park, resulting in the two men exchanging gunfire. Diarra was shot in the abdomen during the incident and was later treated at Albany Medical Center.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.
