TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Veterans of Lansingburgh are coming together for the 67th graveside memorial to honor Uncle Sam Wilson on Saturday, September 13. In Troy’s Oakwood Cemetery at 10 a.m., Rensselaer County Sheriff Kyle Bourgault and others will commemorate Uncle Sam’s 259th birthday.

Veterans have celebrated Uncle Sam’s birthday every year since 1958, making the graveside ceremony a tradition for Troy. During the ceremony, the Disabled American Veterans will present a wreath for the historic American figure’s grave.
