6 Capital Region restaurants that recently opened or are opening soon

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing or relocating. Here are six restaurants in the Capital Region that have either recently opened or are opening soon.

Recently opened

Mr. Halal, Cohoes

Mr. Halal celebrated the grand opening of its Cohoes location on Thursday, September 4. The restaurant is located in the former Table 41 Brewing space at 188 Remsen Street. Table 41 Brewing closed at the end of November 2024.

This is the restaurant’s fifth spot in the Capital Region with the other locations in Albany, Schenectady, Watervliet, and East Greenbush. Mr. Halal serves gyros, rice platters, burgers, sandwiches and more.

Just a Bar, Albany

Just a Bar celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, September 4. Located at 438 North Pearl Street in Albany’s warehouse district, the sports bar offers a variety of drinks, an outdoor patio and football drink specials on game days.

L’Roca Restaurant & Lounge, Albany

L’Roca Restaurant & Lounge opened its doors on Saturday, September 6 at 5 p.m. According to the restaurant’s website, L’Roca is owned by Niurka Durosier, who also owns Lo Nuestro Dominican Restaurant on Central Avenue in Albany.

The menu offers Latin cuisine including empanadas, street tacos, beef stew, oxtail, Chuleta Con Hueso, pasta, quesadillas, sandwiches and more. L’Roca Restaurant & Lounge is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Doubleday Diner, Ballston Spa

Doubleday Diner had its grand opening on Saturday, September 6, according to the diner’s Facebook page. The eatery is in the former Route 50 Diner space at 2002 Doubleday Avenue in Ballston Spa. The Route 50 Diner closed near the end of 2024…
