Officers responded to a home in Troy on August 1 after receiving a report of an abandoned animal at the property. Police located a malnourished French bulldog in the residence’s basement, which reportedly did not have access to food and water, and was covered in sores and bodily waste.

The dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic for medical treatment and is currently recovering with a foster family. During the resulting investigation, Troy Police Department detectives identified Blakes-Sanni as a suspect and took him into custody on September 1.
