Driver in crash that killed Niko DiNovo charged with DWI on Western Avenue

ALBANY — The man responsible for a fiery 2016 alcohol-related crash into a Colonie tavern that killed teenager Niko DiNovo has again been charged with driving while intoxicated.

According to an indictment handed up by an Albany County grand jury earlier this month, Michael Carr, 27, was riding a motorcycle without a license and intoxicated on June 18 on Western Avenue in Guilderland. He also allegedly fled from police when they attempted to stop him. The indictment says Carr “engag(ed) in reckless driving” while trying to evade officers who pursued him with their lights and sirens activated.
