1 arrested after multi-car crash on South Pearl Street

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — One person has been arrested after a multi-car crash on South Pearl Street, according to the Albany Police Department. The crash was first reported around 9:45 a.m. on South Pearl Street and Morton Avenue on Wednesday.

According to police, three vehicle passengers, one of whom suffered a broken neck, and one pedestrian were injured in the crash. All were treated on scene and brought to Albany Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

After an investigation, Albany police found that a car crossed a double yellow line into the oncoming lane before running a red light and hitting two cars in the intersection. The car then hit a pedestrian on the sidewalk before hitting a building.

The driver, Brandon Labelle, needed medical attention on scene, said police. He reportedly was found his drug paraphernalia and was arrested.

Charges

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Second-degree vehicular assault
  • Two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief
  • First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

Labelle was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court. He was then remanded to the Albany County Jail.
