Albany police officer struck as Troy man flees traffic stop

ALBANY — A Troy man has been accused of intentionally striking an Albany police officer with his car while trying to flee from a traffic stop.

The 20-year-old was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree assault, both felonies, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, a misdemeanor, as well as “numerous vehicle and traffic law violations,” according to a news release from the Albany Police Department.

An officer patrolling the Hudson Avenue and Quail Street area tried to pull the man over around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday after seeing a potential traffic violation, according to the department.
