Glens falls man on parole arrested for check fraud at three area financial institutions

Cole was released from prison in 2021, had violation warrant in July 2023 and thefts in 2024

DELMAR – A Glens Falls man wanted for violating parole in 2023 and cashing forged checks at area financial institutions in 2024 is back in jail and facing additional charges on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Jay Cole, 47, who has been at the Albany County jail since July 23, was in Bethlehem to face charges for fake checks there. He was also wanted in Colonie for cashing a $2,279 fraudulent check in August 2024 at M&T Bank. Cole is still wanted for that charge.

The Bethlehem charges stem from two separate incidents from a day last August 10, only 45 minutes apart. Cole allegedly entered the First National Bank of Coxsackie at 11:36 a.m. and cashed a $2,300,71 check that was stolen from a mailbox in Cairo. He used his real identification, and the check was made out to him…
