Bermeo-Quizhpi wanted for not showing up to court in March crashes car leading to felony charge
LOUDONVILLE – A property damage crash led to the arrest of an Ecuadoran man who was already wanted by police for not showing up to face DWI charges in court last year.
According to reports, Colonie police responded to a crash near the Walgreens on Albany Shaker Road at 9:53 p.m. and found that Kleiner Bermeo-Quizhpi, 22, of Colonie did not have a license and was allegedly impaired by alcohol. It was not the first time he was arrested in Colonie. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for not showing up to Colonie Town Court in March for a prior alcohol-related incident.
Last August, Colonie police stopped Bermeo-Quizhpi for various traffic violations after he was driving on Albany Street near Morris Road. He did not have a license at that time. Police alleged that he was drunk behind the wheel, drinking in the vehicle. He was given an appearance ticket at that time before he was released…
