I’ve often wondered what happens to certain items that are returned to places like Amazon. As it turns out many of them end up in what people call “bins stores” where you never know what you might find.
A brand new one of these stores just opened up in Albany in Crossgates Mall. It’s called Bins & Bullseyes and when I walked past it the other day the place was packed with people sorting through these giant bins of unmarked packages. It was very intriguing.
What is a bins store?
According to a blogger at Red Stick Mom, a bins store is a place where returns to stores like Amazon, Walmart and other big box retailer go to be sold in bulk at really discounted prices.
The store owners may buy pallets of returns or closeouts and then sell them to you. It’s a discount for you and a profit for them. They often have set prices that decrease daily.
With how popular online shopping has become these bins stores are popping up all over the Capital Region, and many people describe these types of stores as a treasure hunt. A lot of items are in boxes and packaging and you don’t even know what you got until you buy it and open it. It’s kind of like gambling. Is it headphones or a video game?
