Two facing federal felony charges after K-9 search reveals cocaine, fentanyl

CAPITAL REGION, NY (WRGB) — Two men are facing drug charges after a traffic stop last month in Schenectady.

On Aug. 5, 2025, Jonathan D. Cain, 30, of Hadley, and DeAndre B. Richardson, 25, of New York,were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 1st degree, a class A-1 felony.

According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle stop was conducted for state Vehicle and Traffic Law violations on South Brandywine Avenue in Schenectady and a K-9 was requested to the scene for a search. K-9 Bush and his handler Deputy Praga arrived on scene and the former alerted for the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle yielded 1,033 grams of cocaine and 44 grams of fentanyl concealed in a hidden compartment inside the vehicle…
