Man admits to setting pit bull on fire in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – The man seen on video setting his pit bull on fire in an Albany parking lot has admitted to the crime.

Christopher Maxwell, 34, pleaded guilty in Albany County Court on Thursday to aggravated cruelty to animals; overdriving, torturing, injuring and not feeding an animal, arson, criminal mischief and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.

Investigators said Maxwell starved his pit bull by keeping it locked in a crate without food or water for several days at a home in Albany. Maxwell returned to the area after being gone for several days. Prosecutors said he then took the dog to a parking lot in the area of Fourth Avenue and Franklin Avenue, poured lighter fluid onto the crate and set it on fire…
