Glenville woman expected to face more charges in fatal pedestrian crash

MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police confirmed on Monday that 29-year-old Joshua Soden of Ballston Spa died this weekend after being injured in a pedestrian crash in Malta on September 8. The driver of the crash, Morgan Lange, 33 of Glenville, faces numerous charges.

Emergency responders arriving to a parking lot on Hemphill Place in Malta after receiving reports of crash located Soden pinned under Lange’s car around 10:15 p.m. on September 8. Soden was removed from beneath the vehicle and was taken to Saratoga Hospital with severe injuries, including traumatic brain damage. He was later transferred to Albany Medical Center, where he was declared dead on September 20, according to State Police.

A representative of Soden’s family told NEWS10’s James De La Fuente on September 18 that Soden would soon be taken off life support after nearly two weeks in the hospital. Lange, who remained on the scene and contacted law enforcement following the crash, is accused of attempting to discard an open container of alcohol after the collision.

Lange was later found to allegedly have a blood alcohol content of 0.12% at the time of the incident. She was arrested that night and was charged with second-degree vehicular assault, tampering with physical evidence, driving while intoxicated, and several vehicle and traffic law violations.

Troopers stated on Monday that Lange is expected to face additional charges in the wake of Soden’s death. A GoFundMe fundraising campaign has been established to assist Soden’s family with medical and funeral expenses. The crash investigation remains ongoing…
