(WRGB) — On September 25, 2025, CBS6 Greg Floyd conducted an interview with Lorenz Kraus who confessed to killing his parents and was arrested in the CBS6 parking lot. Here is a look at the timeline leading up to these events.
1980’s:
During Lorenz’s confession, Kraus recalled losing his sister to cancer when he was 16 and she was 14. He said he watched her endure 9 months of “the agony of cancer” before her death.
2017:
Franz and Theresia Kraus, the parents of Lorenz disappeared without a trace in August of 2017. According to Lorenz confession, his parents were “losing their independence” and he believed he was doing justice to them. In the confession, Lorenz says he killed his father by single hand choking him, hours later he choked his mother with a rope. The corpses were in the same house he was living in for a few days before Lorenz decided to bury them in the backyard.
2025:
On Tuesday September 23, 2025, a large police presence gathered at 6 Crestwood Court to execute a search warrant related to suspected financial crimes.
On Wednesday September 24, 2025, CBS6 returned to the neighborhood and saw an excavator in the backyard of the home. Crews saw the coroner on the scene at the home and human remains was removed from the property. At this time the remains found have not been officially identified, but police say they believe they are the Kraus couple.
On Thursday September 25, 2025, CBS6 received an email from Lorenz with a statement and a picture of himself. CBS6 Greg Floyd conducted the interview eventually leading to Lorenz confessing to killing his parents in 2017.
